Women place third, men come in fifth at final Crossroads League tournament of the season

Rebekah Muzyk placed second overall individually for the women

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Goshen bowling teams competed in their final Crossroads League competition of the season on Wednesday at Western Bowl - Indy, hosted by Marian University. The women finished in third with Rebekah Muzyk as the top varsity bowler overall and the men came in fifth.

Women - 3rd of 8
Goshen totaled 2,643 pins after the three regular games and added 2,220 pins across the 12 baker games for a grand total of 4,863. The Leafs were only behind Spring Arbor in first (5,180 pins) and Marian in second (4,941 pins). The Leafs were eight pins ahead of Indiana Wesleyan.

Rebekah Muzyk led the varsity team and made the All-Tournament Team, coming in second overall out of 72 total bowlers. Muzyk was first among the varsity bowlers with 622 pins across three games. Abigail Kenestrick was next, coming in 22nd with 524 pins. Guliana Castiglione was just a spot behind her with 523 pins. Kaylee McNab was 29th overall with 503 pins and Bailey Friars rounded out the varsity top five in 37th with 471 pins.

The JV team came in third of four teams. Samantha Bean (14th, 551 pins), Kami Kimes (15th, 545 pins) and Jessica Spidell (24th, 523 pins) all made the JV All-Tournament Team.

Men - 5th of 8
The men were in first place overall after the first regular game. With a score of 1,190, that was higher than any team had in any single regular game. Goshen was in third after the regular games with a score of 3,061. Combined with their total of 2,084 from the baker games, they finished with 5,145 pins. GC placed ahead of Mount Vernon Nazarene, Grace and Bethel.

Matt Dominiano led Goshen's varsity team by coming in ninth of 89. He totaled 654 pins, and Brendan Riley was one spot behind with 648 pins. Blake Fisher was in 15th with 632 pins, Nik Bressert in 25th with 611 pins and Hayden Grindle in 76th with 309 pins over two games. Cameron Fedenis had a 207 in one game. Dominiano and Riley made the All-Tournament Team for their performances.

The JV team came in fourth out of seven. Da'Veon Welch made the JV All-Tournament Team by coming in sixth overall with an impressive score of 680. He had a 276 score in the second game, which was a career-high game score for the sophomore. Andrew Jackson, Bressert, Dominiano and Fisher all had collegiate career-high individual game scores as well.

The Hoosier Classic is next up on February 14 and 15 at Royal Pin - Western in Indianapolis.
