MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Goshen College softball team split a doubleheader at Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday, falling 2-1 in extra innings in game one before responding with a 3-2 victory in game two.
Game One
The Maple Leafs battled in a tightly contested game one, but a late run by Mount Vernon Nazarene proved to be the difference in a 2-1 loss on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams were locked in a pitcher's duel early, with neither side able to break through in the opening innings. Mount Vernon Nazarene struck first in the third inning, using a triple and RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.
Goshen responded in the sixth inning, capitalizing on an opportunity to tie the game.
Audrey White reached base and advanced to third before
Camryn Barrows delivered a sacrifice fly to even the score at 1-1.
The game remained deadlocked into extra innings before Mount Vernon Nazarene found the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth, using timely hitting and pressure on the bases to secure the 2-1 victory.
Goshen recorded four hits in the contest, with
Audrey White,
Camryn Barrows,
Rachel Kates, and
Celeste Gutierrez each tallying a hit.
Barrows led the Maple Leafs offensively with the lone RBI, while also adding a stolen base.

Camryn Barrows delivered a strong performance, pitching 7.2 innings while allowing just two runs and recording seven strikeouts.
Her seven strikeouts marked her highest total in her last five appearances and tied her career high in a conference game. Barrows was dominant early, retiring eight of the next nine batters after allowing a leadoff single, and lowered her season ERA to 1.91 with the performance.
Barrows was charged with the loss for Goshen.
Game Two
The Maple Leafs responded in game two with a strong performance, holding off Mount Vernon Nazarene for a 3-2 victory.
Goshen wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning.
Audrey White reached base and advanced into scoring position before
Camryn Barrows delivered an RBI triple.
Tatem Adams followed with an RBI single to give the Maple Leafs an early 2-0 lead.
Mount Vernon Nazarene answered in the bottom half of the inning, using a solo home run and an RBI single to even the score at 2-2.
After several scoreless innings, Goshen regained the lead in the fifth.
Chloe Roach reached base and was replaced by pinch runner
Bianca Diamond, who advanced into scoring position.
Audrey White delivered a clutch RBI double to put the Maple Leafs back in front, 3-2.
The Maple Leafs held strong defensively down the stretch, highlighted by the final play of the game as
Chloe Roach recorded her second career outfield assist, throwing out the tying run at the plate - the first time in her career she has thrown out a runner at home.
White led the way offensively, going 3-3 with two doubles and an RBI. The performance marked her third game this season with three or more hits and her second multi-double game. She also played a key role in both go-ahead moments, scoring Goshen's first-inning run and driving in the eventual game-winning run in the fifth.
Barrows added an RBI triple, marking her first since February 25th, 2025 against Oakland City and the second of her career.
In the circle,
Tatem Adams delivered a complete-game performance, pitching all seven innings while allowing just two runs, one of which was earned. The outing marked the first complete game of her career, surpassing her previous career high of 4.2 innings.
Adams earned the win for the Maple Leafs.
