Tennis teams cruise past Cougars

Both teams are 6-1 in the CL

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen tennis teams both swept Mount Vernon Nazarene 7-0 at home on Saturday afternoon. Both teams have won six of their seven conference matches this spring.

Men - Goshen 7, Mount Vernon Nazarene 0
Goshen won all three doubles matches 6-0. Four singles players proceeded to win with 6-0, 6-0 scores - Iago Ciucio, Timo Novak, Garrett Stoltzfus and Mahmut Gumeric. Denis Stanculov and Paulo Santiago only lost one game each in their straight set victories. The Maple Leafs have won their last five matches against the Cougars by 7-0 scores - dating back to 2020.

Women - Goshen 7, Mount Vernon Nazarene 0
The women won the doubles point 3-0. They won 6-1 at #1 doubles, 6-0 at #2 doubles, and the Cougars didn't field a duo at #3 doubles. Vishmi Serasinghe and Sara Nino didn't lose a single game in their singles wins. Uliana Dotsenko and Marin Kawano only lost one each and Maria Clara Fonte had a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win. MVNU didn't have a player to compete in #6 singles. After losing four straight to MVNU from 2019-2022, the Leafs have won three straight - all by 7-0 scores.

Goshen is at Davenport on Monday, April 13, at 2:00 pm before two more regular season Crossroads League matches against Grace and Indiana Wesleyan.
