LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Goshen softball pitcher and utility player
Camryn Barrows earned a spot on the Region VI Second Team, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) last week. A total of 147 student-athletes from 63 schools made up the teams.
The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's six regions with selection to one of two teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region.
Barrows was Second-Team All-Crossroads League and also made the All-Tournament Team. She was the Crossroads League Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of February 23-March 1. She ranked second in the conference in ERA (2.16), fourth in strikeouts (117), and led the league in saves (3). She threw 15 strikeouts in Goshen's 4-0 win over Fort Lauderdale on February 24, the most strikeouts in a game for Goshen, by one pitcher or the entire team, since at least 2007.
All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the two NFCA NAIA All-America squads, which will be announced on June 4.
The Maple Leafs ended the year with a 17-34 record. Goshen has qualified for the Crossroads League tournament each season since 2019, except for the coronavirus-shortened 2020 season.
