Riley wins Maple City Classic and Muzyk picks up second in strong performances for the Leafs

The men places 3rd out of 7 and the women 5th out of 7

GOSHEN, Ind. - Goshen's bowling teams opened their 2026-27 season as they hosted the Maple City Classic at the Maple City Bowl on September 19. The men's varsity team finished third of seven teams, whereas the women finished fifth of seven. In the JV sections, the men finished second of two teams, and the women finished first of three.

Men's Varsity

Brendan Riley led the Maple Leafs on the day, winning the tournament outright. Riley eclipsed 200 in two of his three games. He scored the highest out of all but one other in his first game and was fourth overall in his second game. His third game score of 184 was enough to give him the victory by just two pins, with an overall score of 592, averaging 197.3. 

Anthony Walley finished in eleventh place for the Leafs. He scored 167 and 146 in his first two games, before scoring 208 in his final game to end on a score of 521. 

Blake Fisher finished in 22nd place. After a strong start in his first game, scoring 178, Fisher scored 127 and 121 in his second and third games, leaving him on a score of 426, just a point behind the 21st placed finisher.

Hayden Grindle only played in the first and third games of the tournament, where he scored 158 and 133, giving him a score of 291.

Logan Davis and Matthew Dominiano both only played one game each, with Davis scoring 146, just one point more than Dominiano, who scored 145.

Women's Varsity

Rebekah Muzyk scored over 200 in two of her games, her total on the day was 553, finishing just one pin ahead of Kadence Gates, who ended up on 552 to lead the JV team. Muzyk and Gates finished in second and third overall, behind Lindsey Wilson's Jordynn Sprague.

Kami Kimes finished in 15th place. Kimes showed consistency, with her best and worst games being just six points apart, and totaling 475 on the day.

Kimes finished just five places ahead of Guliana Castiglione, who scored 169, 142 and 140 across her three games to end up with a score of 451.

Kaylee McNabb finished in 25th position with 406 and Samantha Bean finished in 42nd with 301 after only bowling in two games. Abigail Kenestrick finished in 54th place on a score of 126 after playing only one game. 

Men's Junior Varsity

Thomas Podlesny was the second highest scorer in the JV section, scoring 501. Nik Bressert finished four places behind with a score of 483.

Andrew Jackson bowled in games two and three, and came away with a score of 301 to finish 35th overall. Jackson marginally beat Danek Szajner, who finished in 38th overall with a score of 299. Chase Ricks played two games, scoring 278.

Fabio Arias-Rodriguez, Adam Jackson and DaVeon Welch only played a game each. Arias Rodriguez scored 181, Jackson scored 150 and Welch scored 141. 

Women's Junior Varsity

As mentioned, Gates finished third overall. Bailey Friars was the next highest scorer for the JV team, scoring 494 and marginally missing 500.

Chloe Roach finished 35th, scoring 111, 91 and 128, to finish with 330. Hailee Dowers finished four places behind, on a score of 317. Lakota Clarke scored 273 and finished in 46th. 



The Maple Leafs are back in action on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3-4, as they travel to Detroit, Michigan to take on the Brunswick Midwest Collegiate Classic. This will be a varsity only tournament.
