PERSONAL: Born on August 27 ... parent is William Vires ... has one sibling, Matthew (13) ... chose Goshen because "I would have the opportunity to receive a top-notch education, get a chance to personally know students and faculty in a small-campus environment, and further my baseball career by playing for coach Childers" ... admires all of his family, but especially his dad, because "no matter how impossible the goal seems or how rough the times get, he is always there for me to help pick me up, give me the advice I need, and show support throughout all of my endeavors" ... little-known personal fact is "I actually began learning how to write with my left hand until my kindergarten teacher decided to switch me over to writing right-handed because left-handed was non-conformant" ... best athletic moment was "when our varsity team won our divisional title, which our school had not done in a little over a decade. In that championship series, I closed the book on one of the most successful seasons I have ever had, ending season play with an 8-0 record, a 0.79 ERA, and tied my high school's record for most wins in a single season."
