Alex Childers made his Maple Leaf and collegiate coaching debut in 2011 as an assistant under Eric Screeton.  After two seasons as the primary defensive coach, Childers enters his first season as head coach in 2013.

As a collegiate player, Childers played at both Goshen and Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Ill.).  In 2007 he received a bachelor's in Business Management from ONU, where he also played volleyball.

Following his collegiate career, he returned to his alma mater, New Haven High School where he spent two seasons as an assistant coach, helping the Bulldogs to a semi-state appearance.  He has worked as an instructor with Swing Kings LLC, The World Baseball Academy and The Bill Jones league as well as various coaching assignments with The Eric Wedge Camps, Notre Dame Baseball Camps, collegiate summer leagues and various other youth leagues.  He is also an active member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
