Director of Athletics Dr. Erica Albertin announced that Rustin Nyce was promoted to the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country at Goshen College, effective July 1, 2024. Nyce has been the head men's and women's cross country coach since 2015 and is a former Maple Leaf track and cross country runner, graduating in 2002. He was the head boy's cross country coach at Fairfield High School for six seasons and spent three as an assistant cross country and track and field coach at Goshen College. Nyce also previously served as the head men's and women's track and field coach at GC from 2016 to 2022.

The men's and women's cross country teams experienced their best seasons in program histories in the fall of 2023. The women finished 15th at the NAIA National Championship, and the men finished 16th. The Maple Leafs were All-Americans 18 times during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons that year. Mathew Keitany was the National Runner-Up in the men's indoor mile.

While at Fairfield, Nyce oversaw two teams that qualified for semistate and three individual regional qualifiers. During the regular season, his teams racked up the most dual-meet wins in Fairfield history. In his concurrent tenure as an assistant track coach specializing in distance, the Falcons broke five of their eight school records in distance events and seven 4x800 relay teams advanced to regionals.

Nyce is an avid runner himself, participating in races from 5K to 50 kilometers (31.1 miles), and holds Level 1 coaching certification from USA Track & Field. He and his wife, Kimberly, have four children: Roman, Gavin, Alden and Isla.
