AT GOSHEN:
2019: Appeared in six meets, finishing among the team's top three in half of them ... was third on the team twice and fourth on the team twice ... ran the fastest race of his career 9/7 at the Knight Invitational, clocking a 26:07.2 time to take 37th overall and second on the team ... was exactly 10 seconds faster four weeks later at the Louisville Classic ... there he finished third on the team and 241st overall in a much larger field ... finished 206th overall and fourth on the team on 11/22 at NAIA national meet.
2018: Appeared in all six regular-season meets, finishing first or second on the team in four of them ... led the Maple Leafs for the first time at Bethel College Invitational on 10/5 with an 8K time of 27:03.6 ... finished 30th overall in that race ... best overall placing was 17th on 9/21 at Ray Bullock Invitational before taking 16th on 11/3 in conference meet to finish one spot shy of all-conference recognition.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Ran for coach Kelly Richards at Inglemoor High School ... cross country state qualifier … team captain.
PERSONAL:
Born on September 11 ... parents are Morlin Elias and Juli VanPelt ... sibling is Craig (17) ... chose Goshen because “when I visited Goshen, I really appreciated how friendly and welcoming everyone was. Also it had all of the majors I was considering. The cross country and track coach, Rustin Nyce was really cool and I could tell he cared a lot about me and the team” ... best athletic moment was “running a PR at state my senior year.”
