Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. — Despite matching their opponent's 31-for-56 shooting performance on the nose, the Goshen College men's basketball team closed the Best Western Hoopfest with an 88-80 loss to Ohio Christian University on Saturday afternoon at Gunden Gymnasium.
Billy Geschke and Xavier Newson led Goshen (1-2) with 19 points apiece, while Christian Grider (10) was the only other Maple Leaf in double figures. Goshen was 11-for-13 at the foul line, paced by a perfect 7-for-7 from Geschke, but got out-rebounded 25-21.
Marquis Jackson led the Trailblazers (3-1) with 32 points and 12 assists on 11-of-17 shooting while playing all 40 minutes. OCU tried 31 three-pointers and made more than half of them while assisting on 27 of their 31 field goals. Gary Hoover had 19 points and Nic Baker 12.
Goshen returns to the floor Thursday night at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
