SPRING ARBOR, Mich. — Graysen Cockerham led the Goshen College women's basketball team with 14 points and 6 rebounds Saturday in a 69-53 Crossroads League loss to Spring Arbor University.

Rachel Nelson led all scorers with 24 points for the host Cougars (9-21, 5-13), who led 13-12 at the quarter and 33-28 at the half. Teona Feldpausch added 11 rebounds, including 7 cleanings of the offensive glass, and Nelson chipped in 8. Gracie Cabana scored 16 points and Kristina Grace 10 for SAU.

Sydney Stein scored 11 points, Haley Archibeque added a 3-pointer and 2 assists, and Caitlyn O'Neal scored 5 points with 2 rebounds and 2 steals as Goshen's three seniors played their final collegiate games.

Each team shot 23-of-57 (40.4 percent) from the floor, but Spring Arbor came away with an 8-5 edge in 3-pointers and made 15 free throws to Goshen's 2. The Cougars also forced 20 turnovers and outrebounded the Maple Leafs 42-31.

Spring Arbor got a 6-0 run late in the first quarter to take an 11-45 lead before Stein scored Goshen's last four points of the stanza. A 13-2 run in the second quarter put the hosts up double digits for the first time before the Maple Leafs used a 12-3 interval to close within 3.

GC closed within a point twice in the third quarter, but a turnover with 7:50 left started an 8-0 Spring Arbor run that closed the Leafs' last best chance. The Cougars shot 8-for-10 at the foul line and added 6 field goals in a 21-point quarter, and Goshen missed its last five 3s in the second half.

The defeat concluded Goshen's regular season. All-conference award winners are scheduled to be released in the next week, with NAIA Scholar-Athletes and All-Americans following at the national championship in March.
