SPRING ARBOR, Mich. — Michael Bowers scored in double figures and Tahj Curry recorded his fourth double-double of the season Tuesday night, but the Goshen College men's basketball team dropped a 78-51 decision to Spring Arbor University in Crossroads League action at the McDonald Athletic Center.

Bowers dropped in 11 points while Curry had 10 points and 10 rebounds for his second-best total of the year in the latter category. Curry also contributed a team-high 4 assists.

Brandon Durnell scored a game-high 16 points for the Cougars (13-8, 4-5), who received votes in last week's NAIA Division II coaches Poll. Paul Marandet added 12 and Luke Barber chipped in 11 behind three 3-pointers.

Durnell led all players not named Curry with 8 rebounds and 4 assists as Spring Arbor outpaced Goshen (4-17, 0-9) on the glass. Nate Flannery added 7 boards off the bench for SAU.

The Cougars shot 54 percent from the floor and 40 percent from long range, draining 8 triples to Goshen's 3 and 14 foul shots to the Maple Leafs' 10. Ben Cotton connected from long distance twice for the Maple Leafs to finish with 6 points.

SAU led 37-18 at halftime.

The loss brings Goshen to the midpoint of the 18-game Crossroads League schedule: GC has now played each league opponent once and will face each team again. The Maple Leafs return to action on Saturday when they visit Mount Vernon Nazarene in a doubleheader: the women's game tips things off at 1 o'clock with the men to follow at around 3.
