Box Score UPLAND, Ind. — TaNiece Chapman led the Goshen College women's basketball team with 15 points Wednesday night in an 85-49 loss to NAIA Division II no. 5 Taylor University at Odle Arena.
Chapman shot 7-of-11 from the floor and led the Maple Leafs (8-19, 1-14 Crossroads League) with 8 rebounds. Graysen Cockerham added 6 boards and Keyaira Murff had 5.
Taylor (24-3, 12-3) got 21 points from Haley Stratman and 16 apiece from Jamie Netzley and Merideth Deckard. Netzley led all players with 6 assists and Abby Buchs posted 10 rebounds.
The Trojans shot 46 percent (29-for-63) from the floor and 42 percent (15-for-36) from 3-point range, in addition to outshooting GC 12-9 at the foul line and collecting 48 rebounds to Goshen's 36. TU also assisted on 21 of its 29 baskets.
For Goshen, which was 18-for-63 overall and 4-of-29 from 3-point range, Sa'drea Rougeau and Logan Kyre each scored 7 points. Rougeau was a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line where the team was 9-of-12.
Chapman led the Maple Leafs with 2 steals and Cockerham swatted a pair of shots. Mariah Roe and Alyson Prigge each registered 2 assists.
Taylor scored at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters, leading 47-23 at halftime. The fourth quarter was 17-15 in the hosts' favor on the scoreboard and 13-12 to Goshen in the rebounding column.
Goshen begins its final homestand of the season on Saturday with a contest against Marian University. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m., followed by the men's game at approximately 3. Senior Day ceremonies recognizing Alyson Prigge of the women's team and Tanner Camp and Ben Cotton of the men's team are slated between games.
