GOSHEN, Ind. — The Goshen College men's and women's tennis teams moved one step closer to the end of their regular-season schedules Wednesday morning, with each team dropping a 6-1 decision to Spring Arbor University at the John Ingold Athletic Complex.

Josh Friesen was a double winner for the Maple Leaf men, earning a 6-3 victory at no. 1 doubles alongside Javier Gallego Murcia before cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Drew Hall at the third singles position.

Gallego Murcia added a first-set win at the top spot with a 6-2 win over Joel Mast, but the SAU freshman rebounded to level the match with a 6-4 second-set win and used two three-point runs to win the match tiebreak 10-5.

Goshen added a doubles victory from Meaghan Godzisz and Victoria Oakes on the women's side while Sarah Hinshaw contributed a 6-3, 6-4 win at no. 2 singles for the team point.

The Maple Leaf men fall to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in the Crossroads League while the women are 1-6 and 0-6 respectively after the first match of their ersatz tripleheader.

Goshen is set to play Marian at 4:30 p.m. today before concluding their suspended match against Mount Vernon Nazarene at 8 p.m. to close the conference season. Please note that both times are estimates and may change based on the end times of previous matches or travel requirements.
