Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Justin DeWeese

Seven threes by Ramirez lifts Leafs to comfortable win

Goshen shares the wealth with 27 assists

GOSHEN, Ind. – The Goshen men's basketball team completed the doubleheader sweep of Andrews, winning comfortably by a score of 87-63.

The Maple Leafs shot 55% from the floor and 41% from the three-point range. Elias Ramirez led the charge for Goshen. The junior scored 21 points – all from three-pointers. In fact, all 17 of his shots were from behind the arc. Kendrick Bibby scored 13 and made five of his seven shots. He played 12 minutes off the bench. Clayton MacLagan picked up 12 points and seven rebounds. Ryan Mansbarger earned ten points and four assists off the bench, and freshman Greg Johnson had eight assists.

The Maple Leafs made sure to share the ball – combining for 27 assists. That is the most the team has had in a game since November of 2011 when they had 31 against Berea.

Goshen's shooting got better in all areas in the second half. The field goal percentage went from 50% to 60% and the three-point percentage improved dramatically from 33% to 55%. Even the free throws improved – 4/5 in the first half and 2/2 in the second.

Goshen improves to 5-0 against Andrews since 2005. The 87 points scored by the Maple Leafs is the second-most they've put up against the Cardinals.

Andrews was mainly challenged by Goshen's depth. In the second half, Goshen's bench players outscored Andrews' bench 27-0.
