MARION, Ind. – The #8 Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats took down Goshen 91-65 in men's basketball action on Tuesday night in Marion. The Wildcats remain undefeated at home (7-0) and in the Crossroads League (3-0).
IWU was up 12-7 early on, but a three-pointer each by
Austin Branagan and
Greg Johnson gave the Maple Leafs the advantage. The Wildcats responded and took the lead. Goshen was able to hang with the top-ten team, but an 8-2 Indiana Wesleyan run in the last 1:17 of the first half led to a 51-35 game at the break in favor of the home team.
The Wildcats (9-1, 3-0 CL) defense stepped up at the start of the second half and didn't allow Goshen to score for the first six and a half minutes. IWU scored 11 in that same time and had a 27-point lead before the Leafs were able to score. GC (2-8, 0-3) outscored Indiana Wesleyan 30-29 in the final 13 minutes and 27 seconds of the game, but the Wildcats had already done the damage. The home team came out victorious, 91-65.
Greg Johnson had an efficient day for the Leafs. He made six of his seven shots on his way to 15 points. He was 2-3 behind the arc and also had three steals. With his performance, the freshman set career highs in points, field goals made, and steals.

Elias Ramirez had at least four rebounds each.
This win is similar to what the Wildcats have been able to do during their previous seven games – having won those games by an average margin of 23 points. Recently they beat #11 Marian by 19 points.
The Maple Leafs will be back at home on Saturday, December 4. They will take on the Spring Arbor Cougars at 3:00 pm in Gunden Gymnasium. The women's basketball team will play earlier at 1:00 pm. We hope to see you there for both games!
