Cockerham moves into top ten scoring list in loss to Trojans

Chapman scored 18 with nine rebounds

GOSHEN, Ind. – Graysen Cockerham became one of Goshen's top ten scorers in program history on Wednesday evening, but the Taylor Trojans defeated the Maple Leafs 69-48.

Cockerham scored 13 points and passed Krysten Parson to move into the tenth position on Goshen's leading scorer's list. She now has 1,287 points in her career, and teammate Taniece Chapman is in sixth with 1,353. Cockerham also had four steals, four rebounds, a couple of assists, and hit three shots from behind the arc.

The Trojans outscored the Leafs in each quarter, highlighted by a 22-7 advantage in the fourth. Goshen was still within four points with 9:25 to go, but the Trojans scored eight straight and ran away with it. Seven of Taylor's ten wins this season have come on the road. The team was coming off of a long break after having four straight games being ruled a COVID No Contest. Goshen won the matchup in Upland earlier this season, but Taylor left with a win in Goshen.

Taniece Chapman neared a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Besides Cockerham, other scorers for GC were Janara Flowers, Kyla Foster, Syanne Mohamed, Kiarah Copeland, and Sa'drea Rougeau.

Taylor had four score in double figures tonight. They outshot the Maple Leafs 44.8% to 32.1% and outrebounded them 40-30. They had six more assists, winning the category 16-10.
