HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Goshen rattled the Huntington women's volleyball team in the third set on the road Saturday afternoon, but the Foresters responded by winning in four.
The two teams went back and fourth early in the first set, but then Huntington displayed a 10-1 rally to go up 14-6 and cruise to a 25-13 win. They had a handful of runs in the second set – a 6-1 stretch, an 8-2 stretch, and then eight straight points to close the set.
The Maple Leafs had their own response with an 8-1 run in the third to go up 13-6. After posting hitting percentages of .387 and .304 in the first two sets, Huntington hit at just a .073 clip in the third set. They had seven errors in the first two sets combined but ten in the third. Goshen took the set 25-21. After battling for the first half of the fourth set, the Leafs started to slip and the Foresters won 25-17.
Emily Lynch finished with 15 kills,
Kassidy Faler had 14 digs,
Sydney Stutsman totaled 26 assists, and
Amy Baca had five block assists. Similar to Friday night, aces played a key factor in the result. Huntington (14-15, 7-9 CL) had 11 for the match while Goshen didn't record any for the second match in a row. Both teams had seven blocks.
Goshen is officially eliminated from Crossroads League tournament contention, but has three games remaining in the regular season. The Maple Leafs face a third consecutive opponent on the road when they challenge Spring Arbor on Wednesday, October 26, at 7:00 pm.
