GOSHEN, Ind. - The Maple Leafs men's basketball team ended an eight-game losing streak and prevented the Judson Eagles from winning a third straight game on Saturday. Goshen won 81-60 in Ruth Gunden Gymnasium - their second win of the season.
Judson had a brief lead at 8-7, but GC controlled the rest of the game. Four Maple Leafs players scored in double-figures -
Judah Simfukwe,
Elias Ramirez,
Caleb Wright, and
Kaden Johnson. Johnson had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds while also going up for three blocks. Ramirez and Wright hit three three-pointers each and Simfukwe led the team with 19 points. Wright had a season-high seven assists - his previous best was three.
The Leafs held the Eagles to shooting just 35.1%. Their previous opponents this season were hitting shots at a 51.5% clip. Goshen also won the rebound margin by four and nearly doubled their typical amount of offensive rebounds per game with 11 on Saturday. They moved the ball around with a season-high 16 assists.
Goshen sits at 2-8 overall this year and Judson falls to 4-8. The Maple Leafs host Oakland City on Tuesday, December 13 at 6:00 pm. This game was originally scheduled for 7:00 pm but was moved up an hour.
