TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. – The Goshen baseball team picked up their second win of the season on the road in Georgia. A three-run home run by
Trent Sillett helped push Goshen to an 11-7 victory in game one before a 3-0 loss in the second game.
Goshen was on the board early in the first game. The Leafs got a run in the first because of an errant throw to third and then a run in the second from a wild pitch.
Char Reeves scored later in the inning on a fielder's choice. Toccoa Falls scored twice in the bottom half of the second to make it 3-2 and then added one in the third to tie it up.
The Maple Leafs opened things up in the fifth with a five-run inning. A
Joshua Rubio groundout scored
Evan Creager.
Jenner Rodammer hit a single to center to score
Nate Lange. Then, the big play was a three-run home run by
Trent Sillett that scored Rodammer and Reeves and advanced the lead to 8-3.
However, the Screaming Eagles retaliated with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Wyatt Helvey had a bases-clearing double that highlighted the inning for Toccoa Falls. Helvey got to third base but could never score, and Goshen maintained an 8-7 advantage.
The Maple Leafs added some insurance runs in the seventh when Creager also hit a bases-clearing double – scoring
Joseph Cerda,
Gabe Kermode, and Sillett. Goshen led 11-7, which would be the final score.

Camm Nickell threw the following four innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts.

While game one was an offensive showcase, the second game proved to be a pitcher's duel.
There were no runs through the first four innings for either team.
Jack Bennett was on the mound for Goshen, and Toccoa Falls had Noah Davis. The Screaming Eagles broke the drought in the fifth when Chathan Clouatre singled to center to bring two runners home. Right after that was a Caleb Adams single that brought in the third run. 3-0 would be the final score.

Morgan Baker had the only hits for Goshen.
Head coach
Alex Childers emphasized that the team must work on consistency. "We played really well at times and very poorly at times," he said.
"We have to learn to make adjustments quicker and better. A lot of that is on our coaching staff in preparing and coaching them. We have another opportunity tomorrow to learn and compete, and we are excited for that."
Saturday's games against the Screaming Eagles begin at 11:00 am.
