Michael Johnson hits 20 points again in loss to Grace

McQuay scores 14 off the bench

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Michael Johnson scored 20+ points for a fourth consecutive game, but the Maple Leafs couldn't leave Winona Lake with a win. The Lancers came out on top, 79-59.
 
The schools were tied at eight early on. Then, Grace went on a 9-0 run to widen the gap. They added an 11-2 run to end the half and led 43-27 at the break. The Lancers' lead was as much as 27 points with two minutes to go, but Goshen kept competing and closed the game with a 7-0 run.
 
Michael Johnson had 20 points, four rebounds, and had a 60% field goal percentage. Gabriel McQuay has continued his solid production off the bench, scoring 14 points tonight. Greg Johnson added 13 points, three assists, and three steals. Goshen shot just 14.3% from downtown tonight – a season-low. They were 2-14 on threes.
 
The Lancers (20-7, 9-6 CL) improve to 12-2 at home. They shot 52.5% from the field tonight, on pace with their performance this season. They are second in the NAIA in field goal percentage. Despite averaging nearly five blocks per game, they recorded just one tonight.
 
The Maple Leafs (7-20, 3-12 CL) are at home on Saturday, February 12. They take on Mount Vernon Nazarene at 3:00 pm. The women's portion of the doubleheader will take place at 1:00 pm.
