GOSHEN, Ind. — Madalyne Swallow, a sophomore on the women's soccer team, has been named the Everence Student-Athlete of the Week for August 15 - August 22!
The Maple Leafs women's soccer team found themselves in an early hole on Saturday afternoon during their home opener at the GC Soccer Complex. The visiting Brescia Bearcats scored the game's first goal, but Swallow responded three minutes later with a goal, assisted by Anita Tavares. She scored her second goal early in the second half as the Maple Leafs went on to win 4-1.
Swallow has already surpassed her goal total from 2021, and all her collegiate goals have been against the Bearcats. Goshen has outscored Brescia 10-1 in their two matchups.
The team plays at St. Francis (Ill.) on Tuesday, August 23, at 8:00 pm ET. You can watch that game here and follow the live stats here.
Congratulations, Madalyne - the first Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2022-23 school year!
The Everence Student-Athlete of the Week award recognizes outstanding performances by Goshen College student-athletes and is selected each week by the GC sports information office. It is sponsored by Everence, a faith-based financial services organization headquartered in Goshen.
