Leafs lose in three to hot Trojans squad

Taylor has won nine of the last ten, up to #13 in coaches’ poll

UPLAND, Ind. – A hot Taylor Trojans women's volleyball team took down Goshen in Upland on Wednesday night in straight sets. Winner of three straight and nine of the last ten, #13 Taylor bumped up six spots in the new NAIA coaches poll released today.

Goshen was only down 17-15 in the first set before Taylor ended it with a huge 8-1 run. Goshen was down 21-14 in the second but had an epic rally to cut the deficit down to three. However, TU closed it out and won 25-22. A 10-2 run in the middle of the third set created enough separation for Taylor to close the match with a 25-15 win.

Goshen's hitting percentage improved each set. Kennedy Land had 12 digs and an ace for Goshen. Sadie Brenneman was all over the stat sheet with six kills, ten digs, two aces, and a block assist. Amy Baca had six kills, no errors, and a .400 hitting percentage. Sydney Stutsman added 14 assists, and Jaelyn Amhdar had ten.

Taylor (18-4, 7-1 CL) was led by 43 assists, seven kills, and ten digs from Kacy Bragg. Anna Frey and Arlanda Faulkner had double-digit kills. The Trojans were coming from a five-set win over #12 Indiana Wesleyan.

Goshen (2-20, 0-8 CL) hosts Bethel on Friday, September 30, at 7:00 pm in a U.S. Highway 20 Cup matchup. They are right back at it on Saturday, October 1, when they host Grace at 3:00 pm.
