Brandeberry scores career-high, Leafs defeated in Upland

Brandeberry scored 12 points - had 11 points this season entering the game

UPLAND, Ind. - Taylor scored 78 points in the first three quarters as they defeated the Goshen women's basketball team in Upland on Thursday night, 92-60. The game was previously scheduled for Wednesday but was pushed back due to the weather.

The Trojans scored the first ten points of the game, causing Goshen to use a timeout when the lead was at 7-0. Taylor scored 33 points in the second quarter alone, with five of their 12 made baskets coming behind the arc. At the half, they held a 25-point lead.

The home team stretched their lead in the third, outscoring Goshen by 11 points in the quarter. GC held TU to 14 points in the fourth quarter, but Taylor moved on to 13-9 overall and 6-6 in the Crossroads League.

Claycee West scored 26 points for Taylor on 10-16 shooting. She made five three-pointers and had four steals.

Emily Brandeberry had a career night for Goshen. The fifth-year scored 12 points in 15 minutes off the bench on 4-7 shooting. Her previous best was an eight-point game last season against Blackburn, and the most she had scored in a game this season was two points. Brandeberry hit a three and was 3-4 at the free throw line with no turnovers.

Syanne Mohamed had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Zion Neat totaled 11 points with five boards. Montasia McAllister had seven rebounds in 14 minutes of action.

Goshen plays four of their remaining six regular season games at home. That includes this Saturday, January 28, when they take on #6 Marian at 1:00 pm.
