FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Goshen and Saint Francis men's soccer teams went into halftime of their Saturday match tied 1-1, but the Cougars scored thrice in the second half to come away with a 4-1 win in Fort Wayne.
Down 1-0, Goshen's goal came in the 34th minute from
Mario Perez on an assist from
Bryan Yahir Rodriguez. It was the first goal for Perez in his Goshen career. He joined the Leafs this year as a junior after spending two seasons at Marian University's Ancilla College. Two of the three second-half goals for USF came from Enrique Subiran.
Gregor Rommelspacher saved six of the ten shots on goal that he faced. In addition to Perez,
Eli Simones also had a shot on goal.
The Leafs take on Bethel on Saturday, October 21, at 5:00 pm in Mishawaka. The game is a part of the U.S. Highway 20 Cup rivalry between the two schools.
