Goshen falls to Western Michigan in exhibition game

The Leafs play their home opener on Saturday at 1:00 pm

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Montasia McAllister and Syanne Mohamed scored in double-digits as Goshen lost an exhibition game against Division I school Western Michigan on Thursday night by a score of 78-53.

The Broncos scored the first seven points of the game and shot 52% for the night. Goshen outrebounded Western Michigan 34-30 with seven from Mohamed, six from McAllister and five from Emme Boots. Mohamed had four rebounds on the offensive end and Boots had two. McAllister led the team with 30 minutes played.

Goshen only scored seven points in the first quarter but got in rhythm with 18 second quarter points. They had 15 in the third and 13 in the fourth. The Leafs were also productive at the free-throw line, sinking eight of their 11 attempts. The Broncos saw significant contributions from Kaitlyn Zarycki, who scored 30 points on 12-15 shooting. WMU competes in the Mid-American Conference and posted a 12-17 record last year with a 7-11 record in league play.

Goshen is next in action for their home opener this Saturday, November 4. They host Judson with a 1:00 pm tipoff.
