Oelling and Mohamed nab career-highs in blowout win over Judson

Mohamed had five blocks, Oelling shot 6-7 from the field

GOSHEN, Ind. - Syanne Mohamed tied a career-high, and Kiana Oelling set a career-high in points on Saturday during an 82-56 Goshen win over Judson. Mohamed had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Oelling had 16 points while missing only one of her seven shots.

"It was a nice team effort in our opener in The Gunden," said head coach Stephanie Miller, "and I look forward to building off this and improving each game as we prepare for the conference."

Judson never had a lead in the game, which the Leafs controlled from start to finish. A 6-0 run to end the first quarter made it 17-10 in favor of GC, and the home team outscored the Eagles 22-9 in the second quarter. With a 20-point lead at the half, Goshen put some bench players in for the last two quarters, as 12 players finished with at least eight minutes played.

"I liked the way we shared the ball and took care of it," said Miller. "If you double up your assists to turnovers, you're bound to score points and win ball games."

Mohamed had her first double-double of the season and the second of her collegiate career. She shot 8-13 from the floor with three assists and a career-high five blocks. Oelling came off the bench for her career-best performance. In 20 minutes, she was 6-7 shooting and a perfect 4-4 at the line. She added three assists, two steals and a rebound. Zion Neat neared a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds. Her eight boards are her second most as a Maple Leaf. Goshen had 55 points in the paint and 37 points from their bench players. The biggest weakness for Goshen was their three-point shooting, going 4-18 for 22.2%.

"I thought Zion and Syanne were excellent on the glass today," Miller shared. "Kiana had a great game as well and was aggressive on the offensive end."

Goshen's 82 points were their most since going off for 108 against Bethel on Senior Day in February 2022. Their 24 assists today are also their most since that same game.

Today's win was Goshen's third straight against Judson, and the Maple Leafs are 8-2 against the Eagles since 2006. Goshen (1-2) is at Trinity Christian on Monday, November 6, at 8:00 pm ET.
