GOSHEN, Ind. - Jeff Phillips has been named as the 12th head women's volleyball coach at Goshen College, as announced by Director of Athletics Dr. Erica Albertin today. He most recently served as the head girl's volleyball coach at Wawasee High School in Syracuse, Indiana.
"We are excited to welcome Jeff Phillips as our next women's volleyball head coach," said Albertin. "He is a servant leader, a fantastic teacher and has a passion for developing champion mindsets."
"This chance is something that I really never believed would come at this point in my career, and because of that, I am incredibly motivated," said Phillips. "I am excited to start and hit the ground running, and I look forward to achieving our goals together."
In his tenure at Wawasee High School from 2011 to 2015 and then from 2019 to 2022, Phillips led the team to a 146-119 record and was responsible for implementing expectations and goals from the middle school level through the varsity level. He was an assistant coach at Warsaw High School from 2008 to 2010 and at Tippecanoe Valley High School from 2007 to 2008.
Additionally, Phillips was a head coach in the Empowered Volleyball Academy, a program coach for the Outland Volleyball Club and a summer camp coach for three years for Notre Dame volleyball.
Phillips graduated with a bachelor's degree from Purdue University in 2003 and completed his master's of education at Indiana Wesleyan University in 2008. He was a social studies teacher at Wawasee and served other roles, including department chair, adjunct professor for Purdue University Fort Wayne, graduation assurance team member and crisis intervention team member.
"I have been impressed with the feel of the campus and the commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse community," said Phillips. "Goshen will allow me to pursue my passion while allowing my family to remain in our home and the schools and activities they are passionate about. That created a perfect fit for my family, and I could not be more grateful."
"Jeff's experience in coaching stood out from the beginning of the search process," said Albertin. "He will greatly contribute to our athletic department and college."
Phillips and his spouse Jennifer have been married for 16 years, and they have three children, Wyatt, Lincoln and Radley.
