MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Six players scored in double figures for the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars in a 91-54 win over Goshen.
Greg Johnson II led the Leafs with 15 points off the bench.
Mount Vernon jumped to a 13-3 lead to start the game in the first four minutes and three seconds. Goshen cut the lead down to three, but that was followed by an 18-0 run for the host to go up 38-17 and 49-24 at the half.
Goshen was within 19 points on multiple occasions in the second half but was held scoreless in the game's final three minutes and 49 seconds. The Cougars ended it on a 12-0 run.
Drew Hackman made his first start since November 23 at Grace. He had three points on 1-4 shooting from deep.
Greg Johnson II had 15 points on 5-8 shooting and was 3-5 from three. He added three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and no turnovers to his stat sheet.
Elias Ramirez had ten points, and
Kaden Johnson brought down seven boards.
Judah Simfukwe led the team with four assists.
Micah Spatt attempted the first two foul shots of his career, making them both.
The Cougars shot 54.4% for the day and made 15 of their 17 free throw attempts. Trent Koning was their leading scorer with 19 points.
The Leafs still have a path to the Crossroads League tournament but need to win out and have MVNU lose out to earn the eighth seed.
