GOSHEN, Ind. - Goshen and Grace are coming together to bring awareness to how many people's lives are affected by cancer during their games on Wednesday, February 8. The men's teams play in Goshen starting at 7:00 pm and the women play at Grace at 7:00 pm. In addition, the "Fight Together Night" games serve as an opportunity to learn of Hagen Knepp's story and donate
to his GoFundMe page to help support him and his family during this battle.
From the GoFundMe page:
During the preseason at Grace, Hagen discovered something was wrong, and he was eventually diagnosed with an extremely rare form of appendix cancer. Appendiceal cancer impacts one or two people per million each year and is most common in people between the ages of 50 and 55. But it was found in Knepp, meaning basketball would have to take a back seat, at least for the time being. He has already endured one round of chemo and has had removed 50% of his colon, part of his pancreas and spleen during his fight with cancer.
We are asking everyone in attendance at the game to participate in the theme by wearing the color of a type of cancer that has affected your life. See the color chart to identify which colors are associated with which types of cancer. We hope to see the stands packed in an array of colors!
Then on Saturday, February 11, Goshen hosts Spring Arbor for Senior Day. The women square off at 1:00 pm and the men follow at 3:00 pm. Between the games,
Emily Brandeberry,
Sa'drea Rougeau,
Jazmin Vargas,
Suzanna Yoder and
Kedrick Bibby will be recognized for their contributions to the men's and women's basketball teams. The ECo Pep Band will be partnering with Maple Leafs Athletics by playing tunes and adding to the atmosphere throughout both games.
We hope to see you at these upcoming events!
