KOKOMO, Ind. - The Bethel Pilots completed the season sweep of the Goshen baseball team with two wins on Saturday, 20-3 and 8-6. The games were played in Kokomo at Championship Park instead of Mishawaka due to field conditions.
Bethel scored two or more runs in each of the first five innings of game one. The most notable inning was the second, where they had two home runs and a two-RBI triple. Goshen had a strong fourth inning where they got all of their runs.
Joseph Cerda and
Collin Echols each hit RBI singles and
Morgan Baker added an RBI double. The Leafs had three runs on five hits in the inning.
David Lopez had the loss on the mound for GC.
Jenner Rodammer and
Morgan Baker each went 2-3 with a double apiece. Bethel's Jeremy Wiersema went 4-4 with seven RBIs and three runs scored.
The Pilots were up 6-1 through five innings of game two when the Leafs started to rally.
Peyton Smith hit a two-run shot in the sixth with
Jenner Rodammer on base to make the score 6-3. An RBI single from
Andres Garcia later in the inning made it 6-4.
Bethel scored twice in the bottom of the sixth, but Goshen made up for those runs when
Morgan Baker hit a two-run homer in the seventh, scoring
Nate Lange with him. But Goshen couldn't get anyone on base after that point, and Bethel won 8-6 in the seven-inning affair.
Goshen starter
Dalton Soergel had the loss for GC.
Trent Sillett and
Preston Anderson both went 2-3 at the plate.
