Cougars topple Leafs twice in Spring Arbor

Rodammer homers in game two, his sixth of the season

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Goshen baseball started a four game series at Spring Arbor with two losses on Friday. After being shutout 8-0 in game one, Goshen lost 10-2 in the second game.

Spring Arbor scored twice in the first inning of game one, and that would be all they would need. They scored additional runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings and finished with eight runs on 11 hits. Goshen had five hits in the game with two coming from Nate Lange. Preston Anderson started for the Leafs, pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs. Josh Murphy and Austin Martin combined to allow just one hit over the final two innings.

In game two, Goshen had RBIs from Trent Sillett and Jenner Rodammer, who hit a solo home run. Rodammer and Nate Lange scored the two GC runs. Joseph Cerda finished 2-3 with a double. Eric Pettipiece started and allowed four earned runs in his one inning on the mound. Lance Wilson threw the next two innings and Benjamin Witterstaetter pitched three after that. The Goshen pitchers allowed nine walks in the game and threw four strikeouts.

Goshen plays Spring Arbor twice more on Saturday, March 25, with game one starting at noon.
