NAPPANEE, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan's Will Eldridge and Evan Fry combined to throw a no-hitter against the Maple Leafs baseball team on Monday night during a 19-0 win. The game was played at the Field of Dreams Complex in Nappanee due to field conditions in Goshen.
The Wildcats scored two runs in both the first and second innings before laying down eight more in the third. They followed that with three runs in the fourth and four in the sixth inning. IWU finished with 13 hits and eight walks. Eldridge earned the win, going five innings with no hits, nine strikeouts, and three walks. Fry pitched the final two innings, striking out two batters and walking one while allowing no hits.
Jarrett Willoughby was a bright spot for the Leafs. He pitched the final three innings and had four strikeouts and no walks. This was the longest outing of the season for the freshman from Corydon, Indiana. He has thrown 7.2 innings this season and has an ERA of 3.52.
With the series against the Wildcats now complete, Goshen faces Grace next. The Leafs host the Lancers on Thursday, March 30, at 1:00 pm. The last two games of the series will be held on Saturday, April 1, at 1:00 pm.
