Jenkins goes for 30 points, SAU offense erupts with 113

Goshen had 17 offensive boards to Spring Arbor's nine

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Goshen's Karson Jenkins scored 30, but Spring Arbor's Gabe Newhof put up 40 as the Cougars beat the Leafs 113-73 on Wednesday. Marcus Northern was Goshen's second leading scorer with 19.

Spring Arbor scored on a dunk just five seconds into the game and didn't look back from there. Newhof, who is first in the Crossroads League in points per game and third in rebounds per game, finished with 40 points on 16-21 shooting, seven rebounds and five assists with no turnovers and one foul. The team shot 64.3% for the game and 52.2% from three. Eight Cougars made at least one three pointer.

Jenkins had an impressive double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds. He made nine field goals, two three-pointers and ten free throws. Northern scored 19 and made seven of his 14 attempts in the contest. Judah Simfukwe and Josh Similien had eight each. Kevin Cota had six boards and Max Smoker had two blocks. Goshen more than doubled SAU's offensive rebounds, 17-8. However, the Leafs shot just 19.2% from three and 33.8% overall. Both teams finished with nine turnovers.

Goshen hosts Taylor on Saturday, January 13, at 3:00 pm. The GC Pep Band will be in attendance at the game.
