INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Marian scored the first eight points of the game on Wednesday night against Goshen as they ran away with a 101-64 win. The Maple Leafs were led by 22 points from
Marcus Northern.
The Knights needed just a minute and 52 seconds to take an 8-0 lead before Goshen used a timeout. They took another when the lead extended to 14-2, but Marian took one with a 14-5 lead after being held by the Goshen defense for a couple of minutes. The Knights led 54-27 at the half, shooting 62%, while the Leafs were at 31%. Both teams had five turnovers and two blocks at that point.
Goshen had a 5-0 run to start the second half and scored ten more points than the first. But the Marian offense couldn't be stopped as they hit the 100-point mark with just over a minute to go and shot 56% for the game.
Marcus Northern shot over 50% and finished with 22 points and four rebounds. Northern also had a season-high five turnovers but had his fifth straight game with ten or more points.
Judah Simfukwe also shot over 50% with 17 points and four rebounds.
Isaac Miller had five points and four rebounds, and
DJ Bryant had five points and three rebounds.
Goshen hosts Grace, the #1 team in the NAIA, in Gunden Gymnasium on Saturday, January 6. The game will tip off at 3:00 pm.
