GC tallies nine aces in loss to #5 Indiana Wesleyan

Sami Lard led Goshen with three aces

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen women's volleyball season wrapped up on Wednesday evening with a three-set loss to the defending NAIA national champion Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats. IWU won 25-21, 25-10, 25-17.

The Wildcats led 6-0 to start the match and the Maple Leafs outscored them for the rest of the set 21-19. Goshen had four aces in the first set. Sadie Brenneman had back-to-back aces and Sami Lard and Brenna Spangler each had one. Goshen finished the match with nine aces and Indiana Wesleyan had just four.

IWU sported a dazzling .607 hitting percentage in the second set with 17 kills and no attack errors. They had 17 more kills in the third set and a .429 hitting percentage to show for it. They finished the match with a .412 hitting percentage.

This marked the final match in the purple and white for seniors Sadie Brenneman and Jaelyn Amhdar. Brenneman had 13 kills, eight digs and the two aces. Amhdar had 17 assists and seven digs. The 17 digs are the second-most she has had in a match this season and the seven digs are tied for the second-most.

Sami Lard had three aces and Jessie Price and Brenna Spangler had two each. Spangler also had a solo block. Alaina Wolfe had eight digs and Kassidy Faler had six.

Goshen finished the season with a 7-27 record and put an end to their conference losing streak. They beat Saint Francis in three sets on the road and Huntington in four sets at home.
