INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Goshen College women's basketball season ended on Tuesday night with a Crossroads League Quarterfinals loss at Marian. The Knights were the one-seed, defeating the eight-seeded Maple Leafs 83-50. Marian is now 28-1 this season.
The game caps off a year that saw Goshen return to the Crossroads League tournament after missing the cut a year ago. Also this season, the Leafs had their first eight-game winning streak since the turn of the century.
On Tuesday, the teams went back and forth in the first five minutes in Indy and were tied 10-10. The Knights broke the game open with an 11-0 run and led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter. Yet, the Leafs scored the last five points in the half and had some momentum down eight.
The Knights held Goshen to just ten third-quarter points and doubled them up with 20. They put up 27 more points in the fourth quarter and held GC to 2-12 shooting in that period.
Syanne Mohamed led the team with 13 points and six rebounds.
Kyla Foster made three of her six shots and had eight points, three assists and three rebounds.
Kiana Oelling also had eight points and three assists and contributed Goshen's two blocks.
Mohamed led the team this season in points (395), field goals made (163), rebounds (251) and blocks (30).
Zion Neat led in three-point field goals (43),
Kiana Oelling in free throws (67),
Kyla Foster in assists (79) and
Ava Lickliter in steals (42).
Marian will face Saint Francis in the semifinals on Friday night.
