GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Goshen lost on the road to Cornerstone on Friday evening in three sets. The Golden Eagles, now 12-2, won 25-18, 25-18, 25-19.
After missing the last game due to an inury,
Hasan Hadzic was back in action and had 16 kills, averaging over five per set.
Ishmail Bangura had seven, but efficiently hit at a .455 hitting percentage.
The Maple Leafs never had a lead in the first set. They scored first in the next set and had as much as a five-point lead. However, Cornerstone ended the set by winning 13 of the last 17 points.
In the third set, Goshen led by four points and fought back after a 5-0 run from the home team, which gave them a three-point edge. In the end, though, Cornerstone finished on a 6-0 scoring run when the teams were tied at 19 to win the match in three sets.
Igor Sapucaia had 29 assists across the three sets.
Pablo Sanchez led the team with seven digs and
Ben Koop and Sapucaia had five each. Goshen had four block assists in the match compared to 11 for the Golden Eagles.
