Lancers take two from Leafs

Goshen is 6-12 in the Crossroads League

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Goshen lost a pair of games in Winona Lake on Thursday to fall to 6-12 in the Crossroads League. Grace had a shutout win in game one 17-0, and went on to win the next 6-1.

Game One
The Lancers scored in every inning they could before the game ended in the middle of the seventh via the run rule. The second inning was the biggest when they put up six runs. Goshen, on the other hand, had just two hits all game. They were both doubles, coming from Joseph Cerda and Trent Sillett. Chris Godden walked twice.

Starter Lance Wilson had the loss, giving up eight earned runs across the first three innings. Payton Hill threw the next three innings.

Game Two
The Goshen pitching kept the team in game two. The offense also provided some more hits, but they couldn't convert them into runs.

Down 1-0, GC got on the scoreboard in the second when Peyton Smith scored from a double to deep right by Joshua Rubio. But the Lancers scored two times in the second and had one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Goshen had one run on seven hits, whereas Grace had six runs on 12 hits.

Josh Murphy allowed three earned runs in two innings, taking the loss as the starter. Connor Daniel came in to allow two earned runs in three innings. AJ Lenn allowed one in his one inning on the mound. Rodammer had two singles for Goshen. Rubio went 2-3 with a single and a double.
