WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The Goshen offense came alive in the third game of a four game series with Grace, but the Lancers still won out 14-7. Only the nine-inning game was played due to weather conditions, so the seven-inning game is set to be played on Monday at Grace starting at 11:00 am.
Goshen built an early 3-0 lead with a
Joshua Rubio RBI single in the first followed by RBI hits by
Jenner Rodammer and
Joseph Cerda in the second. Grace scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the second and added two runs in the third and one in the fourth to bring the lead up to 8-3. Rodammer had his second RBI double in the sixth, this time bringing two runs around. He added a two-RBI single in the eighth, but only after Grace had produced another powerful five-run inning in the seventh. Goshen was only outhit by one, but Grace won 14-7.
Rodammer finished by going 3-5 at the plate with two doubles, two runs scored, five RBIs and a stolen base. Freshman
Joey Paternostro, in his eighth start as a Maple Leaf, went 3-5 with a double and two runs scored. The three hits were the first three hits of the season for the right fielder out of Lowell, Indiana.
Joseph Cerda and
Peyton Smith had two hits each for GC.
The Leafs (11-20, 6-13 CL) will conclude the series at Grace on Monday at 11:00 am.
