GC keeps conference tournament hopes alive with three-set sweep at Siena Heights

Hadzic averaged six kills per set with a .438 hitting percentage

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Goshen men's volleyball team is still alive for a spot in the WHAC tournament after a three-set sweep at Siena Heights on Friday night. The Maple Leafs won 25-22, 25-21, 25-16.

The teams were tied at 13 in the first set, but Goshen never lost the lead after that, albeit narrow, as they won the set by three. The Leafs looked like they would cruise to an easy second-set win with a 20-15 lead, but the Saints scored five in a row to tie it up. However, Goshen rallied to score five of the last six points. Goshen had a strong 7-0 stretch late in the third during a dominant nine-point win. Siena Heights never held a lead in that set.

Ian Fox had five block assists for Goshen, his third match with five or more this season. Hasan Hadzic had 18 kills and a .438 hitting percentage, averaging six kills per set. Igor Sapucaia led the team in assists and digs, with 27 and 7, respectively. Hadzic had three aces and Pablo Sanchez had two.

This was Goshen's second sweep against Siena Heights in their 12 matchups all-time. Goshen (13-13, 7-10 WHAC) stays in Michigan for their regular season finale at Lawrence Tech on Saturday at 3:00 pm. LTU beat Bethel on Friday and is 8-9 in conference play.
