FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Goshen offense struggled on Sunday afternoon at Saint Francis, with the Cougars winning both games of a doubleheader 7-3 and 1-0. Goshen hasn't scored more than five runs in a game since a 6-5 win against Huntington on April 5.
Game One
Goshen started with a 3-0 lead in game one. The second inning started with
Trent Sillett singling, followed by a walk by
Peyton Smith. Next up,
Chase Smith doubled to center to score Sillett.
Peyton Smith scored later in the inning off an error, and
Chase Smith came home once
Andres Garcia hit a sac fly.
But the Cougars scored seven unanswered runs. Despite only having five hits, three were for extra bases. They had one double, one triple, one home run, seven walks and four stolen bases. They were hit by pitches six times.
Baylor Orcutt allowed three earned runs in four innings as the starter.
Braxton Pratt threw the last two innings and gave up one earned run but no hits. Goshen had six hits from six different batters.

Peyton Smith and
Chase Smith were the three Goshen players with both a hit and a walk.
Game Two
The lone run for either team in the next game came in the bottom of the first. After two quick outs, Saint Francis got on base from a single, and the pinch runner moved to second after a balk. An RBI single scored him, and the Cougars led 1-0.
Goshen had chances to score with five hits, but the left runners on base in all but one inning. The Leafs had runners at first and second when the game ended on a flyout.
Josh Murphy lost despite allowing just one earned run and three hits in four innings on the mound. He had four strikeouts and one walk.
Connor Daniel gave up no runs in 1.2 innings of relief and
Lance Wilson came in to get the final out of the bottom of the sixth. Goshen had 11 strikeouts over the seven innings.
