Goshen loses make-up game at Grace

Huffman had his second multi-hit game of the season

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Although they had nine hits across seven innings, Goshen baseball could only get two runs across the plate in a 6-2 loss at Grace on Tuesday. The single seven-inning game had been scheduled for March 30 and April 1 before being moved because of weather conditions and from Apri 8 due to the eclipse.

Joshua Rubio's second-inning home run on an 0-2 count was the game's first run. But the Lancers scored at least once every inning from the second through the sixth. Jenner Rodammer homered in the sixth for Goshen, making it a 4-2 deficit. Yet Grace still had two more runs they would put on the board, and Goshen managed just one baserunner in the seventh.

The Leafs finished with nine hits and the Lancers with 11. Rodammer, Peyton Smith and Curtis Huffman all had two hits each. It was just the second multi-hit game of the season for Huffman. Lance Wilson had the loss, allowing three earned runs while pitching the third and fourth innings. Josh Murphy allowed one earned run in two innings of work, and neither Braxton Pratt nor Connor Daniel allowed earned runs as they each threw an inning.

Goshen (12-24, 7-17 CL) will hope to end a four-game losing streak when they take on Saint Francis in Fort Wayne on Saturday, April 13, at 1:00 pm. The series was moved from Friday and Saturday to Saturday and Sunday.
