GOSHEN, Ind. - The Maple Leafs nearly completed a reverse sweep of the Warriors on Tuesday night, but Indiana Tech had a dominant fifth set, winning the match 25-19, 25-15, 17-25, 21-25, 15-6. Indiana Tech is receiving votes in the coaches' poll.
For a spot in the WHAC Tournament, the Maple Leafs will still be alive going into Saturday, even with a Friday loss, as long as Bethel beats Lawrence Tech. If Goshen wins Friday, they're alive going into Saturday, regardless of the Lawrence Tech vs. Bethel result.
Indiana Tech had a solid first set and was even stronger in the second. But the Maple Leafs didn't fold and looked just as dominant in the third. The Maple Leaf faithful were on their feet in the fourth set as the Leafs had 16 kills and a .394 hitting percentage.
However, the Warriors scored eight straight points after Goshen scored the first in the fifth set. The visitors had seven kills, no attack errors, and a .636 hitting percentage in the fifth set, which they won 15-6. They are 22-5 this season with the win.
Hasan Hadzic had 22 kills and 17 digs. It's the first time he has had double-digit digs in a match this season. Goshen's 46 digs are tied for their second-highest total in a match this season.
Igor Sapucaia had 44 assists and
Bruno Barac had five block assists.
Ishmail Bangura had 14 kills, five aces and nine digs.
Goshen (12-13, 6-10) is at Siena Heights on Friday, April 12. The start time is 7:00 pm.
