Brenneman joining 1,000-by-1,000 club during loss to SAU

Only three Maple Leafs have recorded 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills in their career

GOSHEN, Ind. - Sadie Brenneman joined the 1000-by-1000 Club on Wednesday in Goshen's three-set loss to Spring Arbor. Brenneman joined a small group of Maple Leafs to post at least 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in their career.

Brenneman led the team with nine kills in the match, which put her over 1,000 kills for her career. After recently surpassing the 1,000 digs mark as well, she is one of three Maple Leafs to have at least 1,000 of each in their careers. Anna Herdeck '06 was the first to do it (1,431 kills and 1,867 digs) and Peni Acayo '11 did it next (2,015 kills and 1,240 digs). Brenneman currently has 1,004 kills and 1,049 digs.

Spring Arbor had a dominant 25-14 win in the first set and another in the third at 25-16. Goshen had a 19-16 advantage in the second set until the Cougars scored four straight to take the lead and force a Goshen timeout. Even after the break, Spring Arbor scored five of the next eight and won 25-22.

SAU had 13 aces and GC didn't record any. Armani Guidry-Austin had four block assists. Alaina Wolfe led the squad with nine digs. Kelsie Hankins had 21 assists, averaging seven per set.
