ADRIAN, Mich. - With a goal from
Karlee Ballast in the second half, Goshen managed a 1-1 tie with Siena Heights, a team receiving votes in the coaches poll. Goshen had the lead until an 83rd-minute goal from the Saints.
Ballast, a freshman from Winnipeg, Canada, who transferred from Southeastern Community College, scored her first goal as a Leaf in the 74th minute. Goshen was outshot in the match 22-3, but
Makiah McCain was a force in the net, making ten saves and just allowing the one late goal. Against Goshen's two toughest opponents this year, #21 Ottawa Arizona and (RV) Siena Heights, McCain had made 13 saves and allowed two goals across 180 minutes. In the remaining 225 minutes she has played, McCain has allowed six goals and made seven saves.
Goshen was 0-3 in their last three matches with Siena Heights, being outscored 14-0 with losses in 2001, 2002 and 2023. In addition to Ballast,
Eliana Lang had Goshen's other shot on goal.
Lexy Adamczyk also had a shot for the Maple Leafs.
