FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Goshen women's basketball team lost a lopsided contest to #14 Saint Francis on Wednesday as the Cougars won 70-36. Saint Francis is now 19-2 this season with the win.
The Leafs were held to ten or fewer points in each of the four quarters and made just 13 of their 50 shot attempts in the game - a field goal percentage of 26.0%. Goshen forced 13 turnovers but had 17 of their own. GC was outrebounded by seven and USF dominated the assists category 18-6.
There were no Goshen players that scored in double figures and none that made three or more field goals.
Zion Neat scored nine points but went 2-10 from the floor.
Ava Lickliter,
Carrie Hiler,
Kiana Oelling,
Zoe Zellers and
Ava Egolf also made two buckets each.
Syanne Mohamed had just two points but eight rebounds as well. One of Oelling's made baskets was her first made three-pointer of the season. Boots tied a career-high with two steals.
Goshen's previous low for points in a game this season was 53 on the road at Grace. This was the fewest points the Leafs have scored in a game since also scoring 36 points against Saint Francis on February 9, 2019 in Goshen.
The Maple Leafs host Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday, February 1, at 1:00 pm. To promote Black History Month, the Black Student Union (BSU) and Campus Activities Council (CAC) will have an information booth at the game and a half-court shot competition during halftime.
