GOSHEN, Ind. - After a four-game losing streak to the Cougars, the Goshen Maple Leafs women's basketball team took down Spring Arbor 72-65 on Wednesday night in Ruth Gunden Gymnasium. This was the most points Goshen has scored in a win against Spring Arbor since January 27, 2016.
It was the third time this season that Goshen held their opponent to shooting below 10% from three-point range. Spring Arbor's only made three for the evening was their first at 4:10 of the first quarter to go up 16-9. However, from that point GC went on a 15-2 run that lasted almost seven minutes, tied the score in less than three minutes and pulled ahead in less than 3:30. The Leafs led by two after the first quarter, three at the half, five after three quarters and seven at the end of the game.
Zion Neat had 22 points. This was her fourth game in the last six where she has had 22 points or more and she now sits at 968 points as a Maple Leaf. She has 1,834 points in her entire collegiate career. Her three three-pointers tied a season-high.
Syanne Mohamed totaled five blocks despite only having two in the season before the Spring Arbor game. It tied her career-high and it was her third straight game with double-figure points.
Ava Lickliter played the entire game for a second straight game and had her sixth game with three or more steals.
Kiana Oelling filled the statsheet with nine points, six assists, four rebounds, four steals and two blocks. The six assists matched her career-high.
Goshen (8-7, 2-4 CL) is 5-2 at home this year. They are on the road on Saturday, January 11, at Taylor at 1:00 pm.
