Lopez sets career high in saves as Maple Leafs fall at #21 Spring Arbor

Goshen allowed their fewest goals at Spring Arbor since 2006

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Aina Lopez made a career-high 14 saves in Goshen's season finale 3-0 loss at #21 Spring Arbor on Wednesday. The Cougars will be the four-seed in the league tournament.

Lopez finished with 135 saves this season, seventh-most in the NAIA. With 172 in her career, she is ranked tenth all-time in program history.

Goshen kept SAU off the board for the first half hour of the match, but the Cougars eventually scored in the 34th and 39th minutes. It wasn't until the 76th minute when they found the back of the net for the third time. The three goals are the fewest the Leafs have allowed against Spring Arbor since 2019, and the fewest they've allowed on the road at Spring Arbor since 2006.

The Cougars had 28 total shots and 17 on goal. Goshen had one corner kick opportunity but no shots in the match.

The Leafs finish the year with a 1-11-4 record. For the quarterfinals round of the Crossroads League tournament, #1 Marian will face #8 Saint Francis, #2 Indiana Wesleyan takes on #7 Mount Vernon Nazarene, #3 Grace plays #6 Bethel and #4 Spring Arbor will challenge #5 Taylor.
