JACKSON, Mich. - Marcus Northern earned the Crossroads League Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week award on Monday, as announced by the conference. The Maple Leafs had two wins last week and are 4-2 to start the season.
Northern helped Goshen to a pair of wins, posting five steals in each contest. Along with his ten steals combined against IU-Columbus and Aquinas, he added 16.0 points, three rebounds and two assists per contest. He leads the Crossroads League in steals per game (among players who have played two or more games) and is sixth in the NAIA in that category.
This is the first time Goshen has had a conference player of the week award winner for men's basketball since Demarkus Stuckey was the Men's Basketball Player of the Week at both the conference and NAIA levels for the week of February 4, 2019.
Goshen will look to win a fourth straight game with their biggest challenge of the season up next. The Maple Leafs take on the top-ranked team in the NAIA, Indiana Wesleyan, on the road on Wednesday, November 19, at 7:00 pm.
